HumeLink East Bannaby Substation

Project Details

HumeLink East is a major high-voltage electricity transmission project in New South Wales, being delivered by the ACCIONA and Genus joint venture for Transgrid. The project forms a critical part of the state’s future energy network, supporting grid reliability and the transition to renewable energy.

The works include extensive overhead transmission infrastructure, major civil construction components, and upgrades to key substations, including Bannaby Substation. Once complete, HumeLink East will significantly strengthen power supply across regional and metropolitan NSW.

Kelko Construction is proud to be contributing to this landmark energy infrastructure project through the delivery of multiple civil construction packages, including drainage infrastructure and specialist formwork, reinforcement and concrete works.

HLE-100 — Transgrid Bannaby Substation - Stormwater Drainage Installation

Kelko Construction has been awarded the Precast Drainage Installation package at the Transgrid Bannaby Substation as part of the HumeLink East energy transmission project in New South Wales. This scope includes the installation of precast concrete drainage structures and associated Concrete, HDPE, UPVC, DICL & Hydrocon pipework across designated work fronts at the Transgrid Bannaby Substation.

Our responsibilities include full drainage installation works, encompassing:

Handling, placement and installation of precast drainage units
Installation of HDPE, UPVC, DICL and Hydrocon pipelines
Integration with surrounding civil infrastructure

This package plays a critical role in ensuring long-term stormwater management and asset protection at the Bannaby Substation forming part of one of Australia’s largest transmission infrastructure projects.

HLE-141 — Transgrid Bannaby Substation – Spill Oil Containment Tank & Reactor Bund FRP Stuctures Works

Kelko Construction has also been awarded the Form, Reinforcement and Pour (FRP) package at the Transgrid Bannaby Substation as part of the HumeLink East project. This scope includes the construction of critical concrete structures associated with the Spill Oil Containment Tank and Reactor Bund systems.

Our responsibilities include:

Formwork installation for complex substation structures
Fixing of structural reinforcement
Concrete placement (pouring) for bunds and oil containment infrastructure
Delivery of high-precision civil works to meet stringent safety, environmental and asset-protection standards

These works are essential for the protection of high-voltage electrical assets and environmental containment at the upgraded Transgrid Bannaby Substation.
